The company - Scanreco Industrielektronik - started 1984 in Södertälje 30km south of Stockholm in Sweden. The name Scanreco stands for Scandinavian remote control.
In 1988, Kaj Johansson and Björn Askestig joined the company and became co-owners.
Like many others, Kaj Johansson and Björn Askestig, along with other innovative engineers thought of new brilliant ideas in a garage.
In the very beginning, the small company produced wireless systems for the Swedish defence industry, automation industry market, wireless "point to point"systems, and mobile radio remote control systems. The mobile radio remote control systems were designed for retrofitting cable remote controls on truck/loader cranes into radio remote controls.
The introduction of radio remote control on those applications was a huge success. Since that time - the focus of Scanreco - had been primarily on radio remote control systems for mobile cranes and other mobile machinery.
As the company was experiencing a period of continuous expansion, in 1995 the company moved from Södertälje to Stockholm in newly built premises (approx. 3000 m2).
From the start, the business has been largely technology oriented. From the beginning the Scanreco products are and will always be the result of intensive product development.
Also from the start, the company’s philosophy and ambition has been to lead technical development within the area and striven for a continuously high rate of product development and effective and rational production, at a good price, in order for the products to become even more in demand on the global market.
Behind the development at the very beginning of the radio remote control system exist the idea of a high degree of reliability, innovative solutions, user-friendliness, and good ergonomics and built for the toughest and most demanding environments.
During 2007 the organisation, the management and the Board of Directors were strengthened for future expansion. Kaj Johansson and Björn Askestig are from the end of the same year 100% owner of the company.
On the financial side, Scanreco has year by year received Dun & Bradstreet's highest credit rating (tripple AAA) for its sound and well-managed finances. Scanreco is additionally certified in accordance with EN ISO9001-2008.
Scanreco has developed from a "born in a garage company” into a high-tech engineering OEM orientated enterprise with worldwide sales of innovative, high-quality radio remote control systems to the world’s leading crane and machinery manufacturers.
